From those who attend the Inernational cocoinvention, who gets
reimbursed? Not charged for the convention registration? What kind of
expenses?
District officers?
IPDG?
International speech contestants?
Volunteers?
Others? |

I don't know about the others, but this year, volunteers did not get
charged for the days we did volunteer work. On the other hand, I did
not get to see all the WCPS speakers because we had rotations on door
duty. Volunteers do not get into special events like the dinner.
I enjoyed being a volunteer, it was fun to have things to do behind the
scenes, and it certainly gave me a chance to meet a few new people.
I'm not sure if you can be a volunteer if you're from out of state, but
if I can, I'll sign up to volunteer next year at Phoenix. |

IPDG?
No, unless their District pays.
|
I believe that the IPDG is reimbursed *IF* the district was Distinguished.
That encourages them to be there on the stage when the district is
recognized.

Yes for Regional winners, no for DNAR winners.
My experience at last year's International in Toronto was that the volunteer
committee heads got free registration and a fun night ticket, but not the
regular volunteers.
I would assume International Officers and Directors.

TI selects someone (a PID or PDG) to be the Host Volunteer Chair, and it is
up to that person to choose their committee from local members. Each
committee person has responsibility for an event and would need from a few
to a large number of volunteers for that event. When we hosted last year in
Toronto, we had a committee person responsible for volunteer recruitment and
had forms made up for this (to bring to district events) and a sign-up form
on the internet.

This didn't apply to me but I believe you're right here. However the results |
of whether a District is distinguished or not don't come out until the end
of July and the convention is in the second half of August. The IPDG would
have to be registered for the convention already and have his/her travel
plans made before knowing whether or not there would be any reimbursement.

Same thing with District 36 this year in DC. A PDG was the Host Committee
Chair; he put together a team in charge of various events; there was
a web page with a form to sign up - just like Toronto. And yes, we did
look at what Toronto did in 2005 to guide us in 2006. |
