New Clubs Listing on District Performance Page

After Toastmasters revamped its web site a few years ago, the District
Performance page for each district included a link to a list of clubs in
the district that chartered since the previous July 1. I noticed that
the District 38 page no longer contains this link, although it still
contains links to Prospective Clubs (something that's been there for
awhile but not since the inception of the revamped web site), New Club
Mentors and Sponsors, and Club Coaches.

I wondered if perhaps this is only because District 38 hasn't chartered
any clubs yet this year. But I tried the pages for a few other
randomly-selected districts, and I didn't see this on any of their
pages, either.

If Toastmasters has decided to drop this link, I hope they will
reconsider adding it back to the page.

Here's the URL for "new clubs" in d46
http://www.toastmasters.org/dpr/dprReports.asp?r=4&d=46&s=3a
Chnge d=46 to d=# where number is your distruct number

Or go to the TI site and launch the page for Disttrict performance for
"your" district and then choose the report for "new clubs".

District 36 has the same thing - no New Clubs link on our reports.
But we haven't completed any charters yet. (There will be two by the
end of the month...)

Meanwhile, our friends in District 27 just south of us do have the New
Clubs section, because they have chartered one.

July and August are slow months for charters, so I'm not surprised that a
random selection came up empty... But it does look as if it's dependent on
whether there are new clubs to report or not...

Thanks for this information. I want to point out that the second
paragraph is what I've been doing all along. It's just that the link to
the report for "New Clubs" is not shown.

I tried your link, substituting 38 for 46, and got a page marked:

"There is no information to display"

Now I see that it does appear that it's dependent on whether there are
new clubs to report or not. I guess I didn't get "lucky" when I checked
pages at random - I chose prolific District 36 but not equally prolific
District 27. When I did choose District 27, as well as fellow Region VII
member District 46, I did see the link.

As for clubs chartering in July and August, I agree it's probably a slow
time. Probably the ones that charter early in July are the ones that
scrambled to meet the June 30 deadline but got delayed for one reason or
another or are in a District that isn't going to be Distinguished anyway
this year but are in a Division and Area that are already President's
Distinguished and is intentionally being held for the next program year.
If the District still had a shot at being Distinguished, it would have
gone in that year to try to raise the points, of course.

Or maybe the club charters in July or early August as a result of
another thing I learned at the International Convention - new charters
can be brought to the Convention to be signed by the new International
President at the end of the business meeting. So, the District official
who will be performing this task may try extra hard to get charters to
be brought during this event. I was sorry that my own District didn't
have any to bring, but I'll aim to get a club chartered in July 2009 so
that I'll see someone from District 38 bring a charter up to Gary
Schmidt in Connecticut (where I have heard the Convention will be) that
August.
