Quote:
Every President and district officer must have the ability to vote
online and have a voice as opposed to handing over their proxies, as we
have seen in the past the person/officer carrying the proxy will vote
on their personal choice (s). It would be a revolutionary idea for
clubs to vote directly on TI business online, a very unique concept
indeed!

I absolutely agree that this would be a great improvement. You would
have many more clubs participating, you would eliminate most of the
problems with proxies being lost or misused, and you would make the job
of an area governor much easier.

I've created a Yahoo Discussion group in an effort to organize and
consolidate some thoughts on these issues:

Toastmasters Technology Consortium

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/toastmasterstc/

This group is for members/officers of Toastmasters International to
discuss the adoption and implementation of cost-effective technologies
within Toastmasters Internaional.

It is the general sense of the group that there are several existing,
proven, and cost-effective technologies that need to be considered for
implementation.

In this group we intend to:

- Discuss methods to promote and address technology issues within
Toastmasters at a local, regional, and international level.

- Develop a consolidated set of information for those seeking to
promote technology options within their local Toastmasters chapters

- Coordinate volunteers and Subject Matter Experts (SME's) in various
technology areas to discuss cost/benefits to Toastmasters International

Group Email Addresses available at the site, but the subscribe address
is: toastmasterstc-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Consortium:
Noun, Definition: 1. combination of organizations for common purpose:
an association or grouping of institutions, businesses, or financial
organizations, usually set up for a common purpose that would be beyond
the capabilities of a single member of the group

This is our group, because as single members these issues have not been
addressed, even though many have been discussed on this newsgroup. We
will put "leaves on the tree, get beyond vague generalities, and
provide a fully-developed proposition for decision-making groups within
Toastmasters.

The yahoo group is a good idea. I salute you for the thought and work
you have put into this. I hope some of our more technically inclined
posters participate; there is a lot of ability represented on this
site. I wish I could help you out more, but maybe I can pitch in if you
still need participants about 6 months from now.

Two items of important news!

1) A pilot of e-learning has been authorized according to my inside
sources, can't say much else on such a public forum, but the gears are
starting to turn...

2) The yahoo group may get squashed, I've been informed a previous
effort of a similar nature was terminated due to a WHQ rules
violation...

Just wanted folks to be up-to-speed.
