2. The Seminar Series Ended Successfully

The June 5 seminars at the Clark library was the last installment of 13
seminars at that location. The feedback from the attendees was that they
found them of great value and they benefited from the advice and wisdom
of the outstanding speakers.

Too bad if you missed them! Would you like to attend more free seminars?
If you tell us what topics you want, we will listen. Tell us your
wishes now at this web page:

Besides the outreach seminars, the Bureau speakers have been busy
teaching courses at adult schools, conducting seminars for clients, and
presenting at events and conferences in New Jersey, the U.S. and the U.K.

If your organization has a need for a speaker for an event, take a look
at what the members of the Fine Speakers Bureau can do your
organization. Referrals are appreciated.

And don't forget to tell your friends, family, neighbors, and complete
strangers about the Community Calendar for Events Anywhere in the
U.S.A.! The calendar is a free service offered to the community to help
spread the message about various educational events available to the
general public at no charge. Find out more at:

3. Story: When you Present, Focus on a Friendly Person

Dear P.,

I have been successful as an account executive for a medium sized
advertising agency. When I first began my employment, I was shy and had
difficulty presenting in front of a group.

My boss suggested that I enroll in a speech class at a local
university to improve my skills. I followed his suggestion and I
completed an excellent course. One of the techniques the instructor
taught us was to focus on one supportive person in the audience who is
obviously enjoying the presentation and focus on that person when you
speak.

Two weeks after the class was finished, I had to give a
presentation to group of 15 people from a local manufacturer. We were
competing with three other advertising agencies for the account. I was
very nervous and I used the new technique I had learned. One gentleman
was very attentive, smiled and seemed very interested in my
presentation. By talking to him, I was able to overcome my nervousness.
I felt the presentation went very well.

After the presentation we had a short social get together. I went
up to that gentleman, and thank him for his attentiveness and support.
He responded, "Sorry lady, no habla English."

...Jane
